Jozen loved spending time with his dad and would always stick by his side whenever he was home. But he had a habit of interrupting him whenever he was on the phone. Every time his dad would answer a call, Jozen would ask for something, like a glass of water.
His dad would try to silence him with hand signals, but Jozen didn't understand why it was important not to interrupt. His dad saw an opportunity to teach Jozen a valuable lesson about consideration for others.
One day, after his dad finished a phone call, he surprised Jozen and his little brother by sitting down with them to watch their favorite TV show.
"Hey boys, how about we watch this together?" he asked, snuggling up beside them on the couch.
Jozen's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yay, Dad! You're going to watch it with us?" he asked, hardly able to contain his grin. "That’s great!"
Just as the show's main character was about to embark on a thrilling adventure, Jozen's dad suddenly turned to him with a smile. "Jozen, I need you to count to 100 with me... right now."
Jozen, fully paying attention to the show replied quickly, "Not right now, Dad, I'm watching my show."
His dad asked again, "But Jozen, I need you to count with me now."
Jozen was clearly annoyed. "Daaaad, can't you see I'm watching my show?!"
His dad smiled warmly and said, "Okay, buddy, you can finish watching your show."
They all snuggled up together, watching the rest of the show in comfortable quietness.
After the show, Jozen's father asked, "Hey, buddy, how did it feel when I interrupted your favorite show?"
Jozen thought for a moment before responding, "Dad, that wasn't very nice. I almost missed out on what they were saying!"
His father nodded understandingly. "I'm sorry about that. It's the same way I feel when you interrupt me while I'm on the phone."
Jozen looked up at his dad, remembering all the times he had done just that. His dad continued, "Just like you didn't want me to interrupt your show, I don't want you to interrupt me when I'm on the phone. Can you remember that for next time?"
Jozen nodded, feeling a sense of understanding wash over him. From then on, he made an effort to be more considerate when his dad was on the phone.
The End!
