Earth's invisible belt

Writer: T. LapatutuT. Lapatutu

One sunny day, Mummy came home from the salon with a yummy surprise - a chocolate donut! Her two little boys loved donuts more than anything, and their eyes were filled with excitement.

"You are going to have to share it," Mummy said with a smile.

"Can you cut it right in the middle, Mum?" one of the boys asked.

They all washed their hands and Mummy, picked up a knife, carefully cutting the donut in half.

"Wow, Mom! Right in the middle!" the other boy exclaimed.

Mummy smiled. "Did you know the Earth has a special line that cuts it in the middle too?" The boys looked at her curiously.

"It's called the Equator," Mom explained. "Imagine it's like a big, invisible belt that goes all the way around the Earth. It helps us know where the North and South are, just like how I cut the donut into two equal parts."

The boys ran to their globe, eager to find this special line. "Mom, there are so many lines!" one of them said, pointing.

Mom pointed to a line going around the globe's middle. "This is the Equator! See how it goes right through the middle?"

The boys traced the line with their fingers. "Wow! Right in the middle!" one of them exclaimed.

Mom smiled. "That's right! The Equator is like the Earth's special belt and it helps us find places on maps. Isn't it amazing how God created our Earth with such perfection?"

The boys nodded, eyes wide with wonder. "The Equator!" they said in unison, thrilled with their new discovery.

Now that they knew about the Equator, the boys eagerly returned to the kitchen table, where their donut halves awaited. They took big bites and enjoyed the yummy chocolate taste.

"Mmm, this is the best donut ever!" one of the boys exclaimed.
